Your customers are Googling. Let’s make sure they find you.
More of the right people finding your business.
Google Ads puts your business in front of people at a pretty useful moment: When they’re already looking for what you do.
I set up and manage Google Ads campaigns for Kāpiti and Wellington businesses that want more enquiries, phone calls and customers — without having to figure out Google Ads themselves.
Google Ads setup from $499 + GST
Ongoing management from $299 + GST/month
Google Ads shouldn’t just get you clicks.
Clicks are lovely. Google certainly likes charging you for them. 😂 But I’m much more interested in what happens after someone clicks.
Did they: Call you? Fill in your enquiry form? Click your email address? Book something? Become a customer?
That’s why my approach to Google Ads isn’t simply about getting as much traffic to your website as possible. It’s about getting the right traffic — and turning more of it into actual business.
Clicks don’t pay the bills. Customers do.
Is Google Ads right for your business?
Google Ads can work brilliantly for some businesses. But I don’t believe every business should be running them. They’re particularly interesting when people are already actively searching for the thing you sell.
Think: “plumber kapiti” “bathroom renovations wellington”
“accountant kapiti”
“roof repairs wellington”
“physio near me”
Those aren’t people casually scrolling Facebook while watching TV.
They’re looking for something.
And they’re often looking for it right now.
That’s the opportunity.
I particularly love Google Ads for service businesses.
Google Ads can make a lot of sense when one new customer is worth a decent amount to your business.
Builders
Tradies
Professional services
Health services
Home services
Specialist services
And other businesses where a new customer might be worth hundreds, thousands or tens of thousands of dollars. If you’re not sure whether your business is a good fit, ask me. Sometimes I’ll say yes. Sometimes I’ll tell you I’d spend your marketing budget somewhere else first.
I’d rather tell you that than take your money for something I don’t think stacks up.
How it works
1. We figure out what you actually want
Before we start throwing money at Google, I want to understand your business.
What services do you want more of?
Which ones are most profitable?
Where are your customers?
What’s an average customer worth?
What areas do you service?
What would actually make the campaign worthwhile?
Because: “Get more website traffic” isn’t a particularly useful business goal. “Get more $15k+ bathroom renovation enquiries” is.
2. We build the campaign
Then the Google nerd stuff begins. 🤓 We’ll work through things like:
Search terms
Keywords
Locations
Campaign structure
Ad copy
Negative keywords
Landing pages
Budgets
Conversion tracking
The aim is to put your business in front of people who are genuinely looking for what you offer.
3. We track what happens
This is one of the most important bits. Where possible, I want to know when someone:
submits a form
clicks your phone number
clicks your email address
or completes another valuable action on your website.
Because otherwise we could celebrate: “Woohoo! 237 clicks!” while conveniently ignoring the fact that nobody contacted you. 😂 No thanks.
4. We improve it
Google Ads isn’t something I set up and then forget exists. Over time, the campaign gives us information.
What are people searching?
Which ads are getting engagement?
Which services generate enquiries?
Where are we wasting money?
What should we exclude?
What could we improve?
That information helps us continually refine the campaign.
Test > learn > improve > repeat.
What does it cost?
I like keeping this pretty straightforward.
No mystery invoices.

I’ll monitor, manage and refine the campaign for you.
Google advertising spend
This is separate and is paid directly to Google. I generally recommend starting with at least $500 per month in ad spend, although the right budget depends on your industry, competition, location and goals. We’ll talk about that before you start.
“How much should I spend on Google Ads?”
The answer nobody loves:
It depends. 😂
A plumber targeting one Kāpiti suburb doesn't necessarily need the same budget as a Wellington-wide business competing for high-value commercial work.
Things like search volume, competition, cost per click, location and the value of a customer all matter.
Rather than picking a random number, we'll look at what makes sense for your business.
And then we'll pay attention to whether it's producing results.
But will Google Ads actually work?
There are no magic buttons in marketing.
And anyone guaranteeing that you'll spend $500 and magically make $10,000 deserves a reasonably suspicious eyebrow. 😂
Google Ads can put you in front of people who are actively searching for what you offer.
But what happens next also depends on things like:
Your offer
Your pricing
Your reputation
Your website
Your competition
How quickly you respond to enquiries
And whether people actually want what you're selling
My job is to give the advertising the strongest possible chance of working — and give you meaningful information about what's happening.
Your website matters too.
Here’s something that’s easily forgotten:
Google Ads gets someone TO your website.
Then your website has to do the selling.
If someone clicks your ad and lands on a slow, confusing or outdated website that doesn’t immediately explain why they should choose you…
we’ve got a problem.
That’s why I look at the whole journey:
SEARCH → AD → WEBSITE → ENQUIRY
And if I think your website is going to hold the campaign back, I’ll tell you.
Don’t pay for traffic and then scare it away.
Google Ads + a good website = ❤️
These two services naturally work together. Google Ads can help bring potential customers in. Your website helps convince them to choose you. And tracking helps us understand what happened in between. If you’re starting with both, I can look at the whole thing as one customer journey, rather than treating your website and advertising as two completely separate projects.
My favourite combo.
Already running Google Ads?
Perfect. You don’t necessarily need to start again. If you’ve already got campaigns running but you’re thinking: “I have absolutely no idea whether these are working.” that’s something I can look at too.
Maybe you’re getting traffic but no enquiries. Maybe your budget disappears surprisingly quickly. Maybe Google keeps recommending things and you have no idea whether you should click Apply. 😂
Or maybe the campaign is actually doing pretty well and just needs some refinement. Either way, we can start by looking at what you’ve already got.
Let's check it.
Google Ads without the agency carry-on.
Hi again.
Ambrose Marketing isn’t a giant Google Ads agency.
And that’s deliberate.
You deal with me.
I learn what you’re trying to achieve, explain what’s happening in normal English and manage the relationship directly.
I use trusted specialists behind the scenes where needed, but you don’t get passed around between departments.
One point of contact. One person who knows your business.
Should YOU be using Google Ads?
Let’s find out. Google Ads can be brilliant when people are actively searching for what you sell. But that doesn’t mean every business should be throwing $500+ a month at Google. So before you commit to anything: I’ll take a look for free. Tell me:
What your business does
Where you operate
What service you want more customers for
Roughly what a new customer or job is worth
Whether you’re currently advertising
I’ll take a look at the search opportunity and come back to you with my thoughts.
Worst case? I save you $500 a month.
🟢 YES — I’d test Google Ads for this.
There’s a genuine search opportunity and I’ll explain how I’d approach it.
🟠 MAYBE — but I’d fix something else first.
For example, there might be plenty of people searching — but your website isn’t currently in a strong enough position to turn that paid traffic into enquiries.
There’s no point paying Google to send people to a website that’s going to lose them.
🔴 NO — I wouldn’t spend your money here.
And yes.
I will actually tell you that. 😂
I’d rather point you in the right direction than take your money for advertising I don’t think makes sense.
